Transform - Stina Brockman

Abstract Expressionist painting has interested Stina Brockman for many years. – There lies the possibility for the image to move purely and directly, straight into the heart in the same way as music, while at the same time the abstract image contains both a protection and a refuge, says Brockman

Over the centuries, humans have transformed the landscape—today at an accelerating pace as a side effect of economic “progress.” Stina Brockman has, on and off, worked on a project titled “Transformed Landscapes.” In it, landscapes are distorted and adjusted—slightly or extensively—through digital experimentation. Yet they continue to remain landscapes. She seeks the unique potential of each digital file to become something other than what it represents.

Now these new landscapes are fully transformed. Using the means available to her, the image is built up. It can be described as an expanded form of photography, existing parallel to the “frozen moment.”
